When I first started blogging, back when I was using Blogger for a site, I didn’t put frames or any other types of watermarks in my photos. When I moved to Wordpress, I continued that tradition, until I started to try to brand myself a bit more within the photos. That’s when I started using the silver and purple frames with NSSL, for Not So Still Life Photogaphy on photos taken with my Leica (and simple black frames for those taken with my iPhone or a point and shoot) and it did for a while suit my purposes. In fact many entries on here, imported from my Wordpress blog still carry the frame.
When I moved this blog over to be hosted on my main site, www.NotSoStillLife.com, which had formerly just been my website, in order to have a blog and website that I would frequently update, one thing I loved about it the most was that the photos were huge. There was just one problem, the frames which I had liked so much before, were now taking up a huge amount of real estate on the photo area. Additionally, it’s a less cohesive look to have in some purple and gray frames and some in black.
So that leads me to this incarnation above. Simple, watermarked and lets the photo have the focus of the viewer’s attention, where it belongs instead of on the frame. I’m sure I’ll update it more with a new logo at some point, yet I’ll keep the photos with this temporary logo (cut out of my original frame) on the pages to show my work in progress as my branding evolves.
This photo above is my first ever joined to the new branding system. It is of me and my friend Petra, black and white to match the other of us before and to match the mood of the cold of the day as we were one of many huddled in a tent, about an hour before we ran the Disney. This was her first marathon and she did great. On Sunday I’ll be back with more photos and details on the marathon.
