My new website: A work in progress

If you’ve been to my website before, you may have expected to see a page just like the one above after typing in or clicking on www.NotSoStilLife.com. It’s been my portal page as well as my signature image on some of my promotional material that I’ve used over the last 2 years.

Upon seeing that they were my featured first image, Chauntel, the bride above, remarked that they (she and her husband Gerardo), were famous and that she looked like Cinderella in that image, which I completely agreed with. Their wedding characterized with happy and bositerous relatives and mariachi music, will always be in my mind for the contrast of the sounds of the day, and the one moment where they seem to be only aware of each other despite all the activity around them.

While you’ll still find that image, as well as some of my other favorite images from my former website in my portfolio, the time has come to not only update my website, but to merge it with my portfolios making it a blogsite (or blite as its sometimes called). Though I’ve wanted to do this for some time, I really liked the layout of the older site in a lot of ways, and so I kept it, even though I was updating my blog much more frequently.

In this, another of my favorite images from the site, John and Monique receive a laying of the hands blessing at their church. Monique was one of my most industrious brides ever. When the dry cleaners accidentally burned a hole through her dress too large to repair, she used fabric at her home to make a completely new dress just days before her wedding, one which looked so beautiful many guests tried to guess the designer at the reception.

The new site is a work in progress and I expect to be working on its overall design for quite a while. (As a side achievement, I’ve always had my web sites transferred and set up by others. This time, with the help of online tutorials, perseverance, and probably a little luck, I was able to transfer over the dns server addresses, install the WordPress onto this site, and install the new template for the blog, all by my own efforts. It was especially gratifying seeing the blog migrate over a few entries at a time this morning even though all I was getting was a blank welcome screen yesterday, perhaps I just had to wait longer for the DNS to propogate).

This new set up has some great advantages including having to have only one site to direct potential clients to, one which will have my older and newer ongoing work on it. I can post much larger photos (and will most likely be redesigning the frames I’ve used to designate my Leica photos from any others posted, in order to have them as large as possible.

Tomorrow I’ll be back with my usual Topical Tuesday post, and look forward to posting more about my most recent marathon and other running topics, as well as photo safaris and upcoming clients shoots.
